ANWSD is pleased to offer after school and summer opportunities for our students. Below you will find information on our 21C Expanded Learning Program (Fusion) as well as our Licensed Childcare programs.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The ANWSD After School program philosophy states that school age children need a safe, stimulating environment after school where they can develop in a positive manner. The staff fosters this development by offering age appropriate activities that include social, physical, creative and emotional opportunities for growth. School age children are an integral part of the curriculum planning and implementation and are empowered to make their own choices regarding how they spend the after school hours.
ANWSD AFTER SCHOOL GOALS
To help our students develop to their fullest potential physically, intellectually and socially.
To deliver the program in a safe, fun, supportive, caring and positive environment.
To support and strengthen the family unit.
Childcare:
Our licensed child care programs run Monday-Friday 3pm-6pm and 1/2 day in-service days from 11:30am-6pm at each elementary school while school is in session. Information regarding cost is available in the family handbook below. We will also be offering vacation camps during February and April breaks, Vacation camps will happen at Vergennes Elementary School and operate from 7am-5:30pm. Our childcare program do not run on full-day inservice days or during the November and December breaks.
Fusion:
Fusion is an enrichment based program that runs in five different “sessions” throughout the school year. Flyers go out a week or two before a new session starts. Students sign up for programs they are interested in. Enrollment is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. A 21st Century grant covers the majority of the cost of this program. A small fee is recommended, $10-$30 per session, but not required. The program typically runs from 3-4:30pm and a free snack is provided. This is not intended to be a childcare program. Students should only sign up for activities that interest them. This program is offered at all three schools in our district. The program may not operate everyday at every locations. Fusion is not designed to be childcare. Fusion does not operate during vacations, on inservice days or early release days.
